An Easy Way to Bring the Green Outside your House Into Your Home

Posted by C M on Thursday, April 30, 2009, In : Health

There are all kinds of things growing in your yard that you can use in your home. Simple things, things we take for granted, sometimes things we try to get rid of.

The simplest is the dandelion. We fight it constantly in our lawns, pulling it, spraying it, and swearing at it.But this tough little weed has more benefits than we can imagine. I was recently looking at Learning Herbs and I was amazed at the health benefits of the dandelion.

The dandelion flowers are extremely good for your hear...

It Is Slowly Happening

Posted by Mark on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, In : Health

It is taking time but the shift to an organic lifestyle is starting to become mainstream. A family member of mine works at a daycare, and they are now using a natural and organic cream for baby rash.

It was introduced to them about a month ago by one of their parents. The parent believes in living organic and refuses to use over the counter creams on her baby, so requested only her natural cream be used.

The daycare workers were so impressed with the results that they started to use it on all o...

If We Live on a Solar Earth, Why are We Burning It?

Posted by C M on Monday, April 27, 2009, In : Home
Everything around us, well, even us, is fueled by the sun. Plants, trees, mammals, water even requires the sun. Yet each and everyday, we fire up our cars, turn up our heat, and cook on our stoves using fossil fuels.

Humans have insisted on running our world on coal, naturall gas, and oil, yet for free we have the sun. It produces more energy than any fossil fuel; it doesn't harm our environment with nasty byproducts; yet we don't use it to it's full advantage.

As a society, we could easily con...

Okay, I Have a Confession, I Cheated!

Posted by C M on Friday, April 24, 2009, In : Health

I've been a bachalor for a bit now and last night I felt lazy and didn't want to cook, so I grabbed a bite out. I figured I was being good, I had a chicken sandwich and salad. It was tasty but nothing compared to my wife's chicken.

Once I got home, I knew something was up, my stomach started to gurgle and grumble, and a few minutes later I was off to the bathroom. All night, I felt ill, I had some pepermint tea hoping to calm the rumble but nothing. I called my wife hoping in her bag of tricks...

How To Eat Organic When You Are Lazy

Posted by C M on Thursday, April 23, 2009, In : Health
Let's face it, in todays world of a fast food joint on every corner it is getting harder and harder to eat a healthy, organic diet. The ease of grabbing a burger on the run, is too great of a temptation.

How do we fight the norm?

Eating healthy takes some forthought, but even the lazy person can do it. I am the worst person for not thinking ahead. I generally grab what I need and run out the door, without a thought of food for later in the day. Then when I get hungry, I have the choice of igno...

Why Be Earth Friendly in Your Home?

Posted by C M on Monday, April 20, 2009, In : Home

In today's age what a loaded question. Everyone has an opinion on whether there is global warming or not. It seems that each day you find an article from one expert or another that discusses both sides of the battle.

Is there global warming? Not going to get into the argument, instead look at it in the sense of money. What you do today could save you thousands in the future. How does making earth-friendly choices save money when it is usually more expensive?

Initia...

The Pros and Cons of Geo Thermal Heat - Look at the Basics

Posted by C M Babcock on Sunday, April 12, 2009, In : Home

Is geo thermal heat right for you? If you are looking to upgrade your heating system and being 'earth-friendly' is important to you, then you will be considering geo thermal as an alternative.

The basics of geo thermal is to tap into the earth's constant temperature and use this to heat and cool your home. By running an intricate system of water pipes you can heat or cool the water to a consistant 15 degrees celcius (59 degrees fahrenheit) and transfer it to your home heating/cooling system....

One Simple Step To Save Money On Heat And A/C.

Posted by Mark on Saturday, April 11, 2009, In : Home
With the knowledge that we are in an economic and environmental mess, we have unlimited reasons to try and save on our heating and air conditioning costs. Not only will it keep money in your pocket, but it is one little step to reducing your carbon impact.

I think when talking about going green, we are overwhelmed with information and really don't know where to start. The environmentalists are asking us to make massive changes, which of course we need, but at the same time the general public ...

Government Bailouts Suck!

Posted by C M on Friday, April 10, 2009, In : Rant (could be about anything)!
I'll apologize now, this is a rant.

With the next series of bailouts coming - pick your country you'll find one coming, I have become really angry. I had to shut the doors on my company, because the banks wouldn't lend me money. Now my company wasn't losing money, it wasn't in any kind of trouble at the time, I hadn't wasted my resources, I was just too small of a company, so it was classified as a risk. In five years of business, there was not a year that I didn't show profit, but because I w...

Renewable Energy - What Are The Choices

Posted by C M on Tuesday, April 7, 2009, In : Home

When it comes to renewable energy, just how many choices do we have? Plenty. But in today's context, the most prominent and promising ones would be solar, hydro and wind power. Our world is heading for destruction if it does not hold its reins on fossil fuel consumption. Now, we all know that since such energy is non-renewable, sooner or later, depletion is a certainty. Instead of leaving things to chance, we can always turn our focus to renewable energy solutions.

The sun is a huge reservoi...

Posted by C M on Tuesday, April 7, 2009, In : Home

Our world is facing an energy crisis. With the fast-depleting supply of fossil fuels and the ever increasing demands for power from industrialization and human living, it is imperative to start relying on renewable energy sources. Living off the grid is perhaps the first step towards doing our part in saving the environment. It not only will help cut down our reliance on the conventional energy sources, it will also help us reduce electric bills as well as protect our environment from further...
