Striving to have beautiful skin is not a new concept. There is evidence that it has been a desire of people since ancient times, and with it being a multi-billion dollar industry today, it is not going to go away soon.
However, skin care has transformed in a big way. Herbal skin care routines have been replaced by synthetic/chemical-based skin care routines. The herbal skin care recipes which once used to be common place are not so popular today (and even unknown to a large population).
So... Continue reading ...

The idea with organic gardening is that you don't employ artificial fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides. By doing this you are not only being healthier, but you are also working within the eco-system that is your garden. Weed and insect repellents don't know the difference between useful and destructive, they just wipe out all bugs and plants that come into contact with them.
A wonderful way to save money, and be environmentally friendly is to grow an organic garden.
There are three simp... Continue reading ...
As companies are downsizing, and people are slowing down their spending it is getting harder for installers to find jobs. Although it can be a stressful time, if you stop and look around you could find a method of creating your own business.
When I first started my construction company, I contracted myself out as an installer for a water fountain company. It was a really great contract job, as the owner paid on completion, and as a new business this was really important for me.
As I gaine... Continue reading ...

Today I was clearing out one of my email accounts that I rarely use, and came across an article that literally made my jaw drop open.
It is so ridiculous, so asinine, that it can only be from the United States FDA.
Cheerios are being considered an illegally sold drug by the FDA.
Yes, you read that right. The FDA sent General Mills - the maker of Cheerios a letter that stated: "Based on claims made on your products label, we have determined that your Cheerios Toasted Whole Grain Cereal is promote... Continue reading ...

In today's world it is getting more and more difficult to choose organic. As saving money becomes a bigger concern, the decision to become organic is a cost issue rather than a health issue. to help with the decision you should know which foods you should be willing to spend the money on because of your health, and which you can make a monetary decision on.
When you are deciding on which fruits and vegetables the worst for pesticides are peaches and strawberries. No matter how much you wash th... Continue reading ...

I was doing some research today on the benefits of organic food. Now there is a huge debate on as to the value of organic food. My question became where did this debate start? Seems to me that food that is not genetically modified would be better, and food that has never been sprayed with a synthetic substance would be better. Makes sense. But, there is huge contraversy over this. As people today have been trained to only follow scientific evidence, I figured I would go on the hunt for what the... Continue reading ...
The economy is difficult for a lot of peopleat the moment, and they are looking to the Internet to make extra money. The issue is, how do you start a business if you have no money?
There are a lot of programs that you can make a living with, but they call for set up costs. it gets somewhat exasperating if you are in need of extra money, that you need money. It doesn't quite add up. The good news is there is an option. There are companies that don't need start up costs. One such company is SFI.... Continue reading ...
We exist in an era that teaches us very early on that we must determine who we are. By the age of five, we have parents beginning to ask their kids what they want to be when they are older. During school, we are told if we want a good life, we must get excellent grades, so we can go to university. We get to university, and we are told we have to have a high GPA if we want a respectable career.
After we graduate from college, we get the career, we get married and buy a house. Then this time h... Continue reading ...

I'm not sure if you are familiar with the political comedy show done by Jon Stewart. It spoofs some very important things going on in our society, but with the right message behind it a lot of times.
The other day, I just happened to have the TV on and his show started. I wasn't paying a lot of attention to it until there was mention of organic farming.
They started the program by discussing that Michelle Obama planted an organic garden at the White House. I'll stop there as here is the lin... Continue reading ...

There are all kinds of things growing in your yard that you can use in your home. Simple things, things we take for granted, sometimes things we try to get rid of.
The simplest is the dandelion. We fight it constantly in our lawns, pulling it, spraying it, and swearing at it.But this tough little weed has more benefits than we can imagine. I was recently looking at Learning Herbs and I was amazed at the health benefits of the dandelion.
The dandelion flowers are extremely good for your hear... Continue reading ...

What Makes You Happy
Today I had a long conversation with someone and it basically boiled down to happiness. In a world that seems to be falling apart around us, it is becoming harder and harder to find happiness. The pressures of work and home can become overwhelming, and sink us into a pit of despair.
After the conversation, I reflected on the concept of happy. For me there are many levels of what can and does bring a smile to my face.
As I sit here and write this at every pause I look u... Continue reading ...

Recently there was a natural supplement that was pulled off of the shelves because there was a death related to it. As consumers, we were not told the circumstances of the death. Was the person taking too much of it, were they combining two supplements and they reacted to each other? We have no idea, all we know is there was a death, and they blamed the supplement.
What I wonder is why don't we here the same thing about pharmaceuticals?
Every year there are thousands of deaths related to pr... Continue reading ...

Every year there are millions of homes being renovated around the world. As our homes age, we are looking to modernize and keep the house looking fresh.
Before anyone starts to tear into their project they should take several things into consideration. Beyond the cost, you should consider what effect the renovation is going to have on your health and on the environment.

My journey towards living green began the year my mother died. My mom was a great lady who made me who I was, and in 1998 she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
It was a large lump and the doctors told her she would need to have her breast removed and would have to follow it up with chemotherapy. At the time I was living away from home and made the decision to come back to help her out.
It was a tough journey, shortly after the surgury they started chemo and it made her really ill. To the po... Continue reading ...

How do you think it would feel if instead of a power bill every month, you recieved a cheque?
Many people do not realize that if you produce your own power, and your home doesn't need it all, the power companies will buy it from you.
Imagine, each and every month, a cheque for something you did that was good for the environment. As a society we have come to think that if you want to be green, you will have to pay more for it. More for recycling pick up, more for earth friendly products, mor... Continue reading ...

If you are similar to many of people in today's economy, you are searching for methods to save money. One easy way is to produce your own electricity. We are part of, what I like to call, a solar earth. The sun produces the energy for all living beings to flourish. Why not use that identical power to run your house.
If you search for solar, or wind power, kits you will find there are a lot of options. You can hire it out, expensive, but you will get a return on your money in time. Or you can... Continue reading ...

The most powerful form of renewable energy on earth is solar energy. So what is solar energy exactly? It is the energy that you can harness from the heat in the sun's rays. The sun produces so much energy, that if harnessed, it would only take one minute to have enough to provide the earth with sufficient energy to last at least 12 months!
So, solar power is the energy from the sun which is harnessed and changed into electricity. There are more products today which have the ability to use so... Continue reading ...

In todays world of environmentally friendly products one of the first you will hit is CFL bulbs. Every expert is telling you that if you want a green home you need to swap all of your bulbs to CFLs.
There is no denying that CFL bulbs use less electricity, which in turn means you save money on your electrical bills and help the environment.
But, what are they not telling you? CFL bulbs use mercury, if it breaks you are in a contaminated area, and need to leave. It is extremely hazardous, so ... Continue reading ...

What comes to mind when you take notice of the word "eco-friendly homes"? Energy efficiency is what people most often equate this expression with and that is unquestionably an imperative ingredient of green homes, but there is more to it than just saving energy, a lot more. Bona fide green homes should be created from materials that are either recycled or are not made from fossil fuels. Eco-friendly homes are about reducing waste, making better use of space and keeping things clean. Reduce... Continue reading ...
